This coming cherry season in Chile, GP Graders will be commissioning two new 2008 model AirJet™ optical cherry sizers. This includes a four tonne, eight lane grader for Del Monte, one of the world’s largest fruit companies.
Optical cherry sizing allows precise measurement of each cherry by multiple cameras connected to a computer using Ellips grading software. Cherries are measured at their widest point enabling greater returns for each cherry. Cherries can be sorted into size increments stipulated by packing shed management and can be adjusted to 0.1mm increments.
The Ellips system also colour sorts cherries to allow even greater rewards for dark coloured fruit.
GP Graders has been building AirJet™ optical sizers for cherries and other small produce for the last three years and has been continuously improving the design. The 2008 design includes a dedicated air chamber to ensure consistent air pressure. The specially designed air chamber ensures a streamlined design with minimal parts.
The GP Graders louvered exit trays are another point of difference. Louvers allow a greater water depth for soft cherry landing and increased water flow to move cherries gently before fruit can be allowed to build up.
The 2008 AirJet™ conveyor includes a new roller design which better copes with stalks and provides consistent traction for fruit rotation.
The new and improved 2008 AirJet™ optical cherry sizers join other GP Graders AirJet™ sizers on four continents, sorting fruit accurately for optimal return per cherry.
